Huge congrats to U14's who claimed the CSSL U14 Cup against Burren Utd in the County Grounds today.
Despite what can only be described as 1 of the longest warm ups in history in miserable conditions when the game finally kicked off both teams gave a good account of themselves.
Chances were had at both ends but save of the day went to Kyle O'Callaghan who at full stretch managed to get enough on it to push the ball pass the post to deny Burren Utd.
Shannon Town took the lead through Ben O'Neill from about 25 yards out with a unstoppable strike.
Half Time Shannon Town 1-0 Burren Utd
2nd half kicked off with Shannon Town applying all the pressure and their efforts were rewarded when Adam Fitzpatrick slotted home. Shannon Town 2-0
Shannon Town awarded penalty about 20mins into 2nd half and Ben O'Neill slotted home from the spot making it look easy. Certainly showed Benteke how its done!!
Eoin Duff wrapped it up for Shannon Town getting a well deserved goal having caused Burren's back 4 problems all day.
So the double is well on track for this team with league decider against Avenue up next.
Congrats to all players and their coaches Ger Kelly, Bill Boyd and Gary Cook on a very successful season. Man of match award went to the talented Adam Fitzpatrick and what a year this guy having with his Republic of Ireland call up. Well deserved.
Same again so next week in league decider.C'MON THE TOWN
