Shannon Town A 5
Shannon Olympic A 3
Venue: Corrib Drive
Shannon Town maintained their unbeaten run against a spirited Shannon Olympic team on Sunday morning played in excellent conditions at Corrib Drive. Town stated the brighter and went 1-0 up after 5 minutes after a good strike from Robbie Wall.
Bryan O’Donoghue scored the second from a corner at the half hour to put Town 2-0 up. To their credit Olympic pushed for their opener and were rewarded with a goal from Derek Maxwell after a sustained period of pressure to leave it 2-1 at half time.
Town went in search of the all important third goal of the game and Colin Scanlon finished very well from a tight angle to keep his great start to the season going. Olympic scored their second shortly with a good finish from Jay Regan to make it 3-2 but Town hit back again with a goal from Evan Glynn and then made sure of the points when Jack Kelly rose at the back post to fire a great header past the Olympic keeper to make it 5-2.
Olympic to their credit never eased off and scored a late third goal through Deaglán McDonald. However the points were never in doubt despite Evan Barry being denied by a great save from the penalty spot by Pierce DeLoughrey as this entertaining game finished 5-3.
