A disappointing Clare cup Journey ended for the B team Sunday afternoon when the local Derby saw Shannon Hibs come out on top with a win in Extra time. The home side scoring first through Adrian Carew but saw them conceed late in the 2nd Half and eventually lose out on a chance to take on Avenue United A in the semi final who are chasing down a Premier league and Clare cup double.
Wednesday 04/05
Tulla United A 3
Shannon Town B 2

Daithi Lohan ⚽️
The B team travelled to Tulla Wednesday evening for a 7pm kick off back in league action. After a good start to the game with the away side pushing league challengers right from the off showing no signs of Cup upset but with 20 Minutes on the clock the away side found themselves 2-0 down in quick succession after one well worked goal and an unforced error resulted in a 2nd goal for Tulla. This seamed to spark the Town men into life and after pushing high up the field for a kick out the full back over hitting a pass across his box saw Cody Waller blast into the roof of the net to make it 2-1. The half ended with the Town men dominating possession and nearly levelled the scoring on multiple occasions only to see the Tulla defenders and goalkeeper keep it 2-1 at the break.
The 2nd Half started much the same way as the first did with the Town men forcing errors out of the Tulla players and really pushing them back into their own half of the field. After winning numerous corner kicks and see the ball cleared off the line 2 if not 3 times the Town men finally got their deserved equaliser when Daithi Lohan controlled a headed clearance and smashed his effort into the top corner to make it 2-2 with 20 Minutes to play. The home side kept their heads up and eventually with 4 minutes to play saw them win a ball in their own corner flag, the Tulla winger ran into the Town half and let loose with a strike from 30 yards out to see it fly past Luke Whelan in goal to make it 3-2 in the end.
A mention to the 3 youth players all starting and put in top performances. And the 3 C team players that helped out on an evening fixture where the weeks of Sunday, Wednesday fixtures caught up on the B team squad with injuries ect.
