Shannon Town U16 A 1
Lifford 1
The under 16A team played host to Lifford for their first home game of the new season.
This fixture has always been a close encounter over the past few seasons and this game was no exception.
Shannon Town started well with Koky timing his run perfectly to race through the Lifford defence only to shoot just wide.
The visitors took the lead after 15 minutes
when the home side were slow to react to a through ball allowing the Lifford striker to open the scoring.
Shannon Town levelled the score within 10 minutes, after a mazy run from centre back Aaron Shinners deep into the Lifford half, his pass found Koky, and his flick found Cian Austin who rounded the keeper to fire home the equaliser from just inside the box which left the sides level at halftime.
Shannon Town came close to taking the lead straight after the break with some good link up play between Luc Fitzpatrick & Luke Keating before Billy Kelly’s shot went just over. Lifford continued to play a long ball game throughout the second half which the Shannon Town defence dealt with brilliantly. The home side continued to play some nice passing football but could not find the winning goal to take all three points.Well done to the players from both teams for a very entertaining and competitive match.
