Bridge United B 0
Shannon Town B 2
Eoin Collins ⚽⚽
The B team travelled to Sixmilebridge on Sunday afternoon to keep the momentum going in the league, in another windy Sunday afternoon this game started out with both teams battling for control. The away side hoping to push up the table started the slower of the 2 teams as the Bridge started to win the 50/50 battles early on, they pushed for the opener but could not break down the resolute Town defense. Instead on the stroke of 25 minutes the away side nearly opened the scoring when Karl Scott let loose with a strike from 35 yards out only to see the Bridge keeper dive and push the effort onto the crossbar, Scott Lynch arriving to try and finish it off headed the rebound just over the bar. With the away side now getting a grip on the game they did open the scoring in the 40th minute when a corner kick whipped in by Karl Scott was met with a thunderous volley into the bottom corner by the on rushing Eoin Collins. 1-0 at half time.
The 2nd half pretty much carried on as the end of the first half with the away side having most of the possession and pushing for that 2nd goal, with some Trojan work out of the midfielders Evan Glynn, Eoin Collins, Eoghan Gough and Scott Lynch they pushed the Bridge side back into their own half trying to withstand the constant attacks. The away side eventually added to the pressure on the stroke of 50 minutes a perfect through ball by Luke Cahill into the Bridge box saw Eoin Collins get to the ball before the Bridge center half and get hacked down for a penalty to be awarded by the ref. Up stepped Eoin Collins, he made no mistake and dispatched the spot kick into the bottom corner, 2-0 to the Town. The home side tried to get back into the game with some positive counter attacks but no goal or any real efforts on target to trouble the town keeper Gary Cusack. Another miracles save to the top corner by the Bridge keeper in the last 10 minutes saw him deny Karl Scott of another wonder goal. Eoin Collins also denied the hattrick by the Bridge keeper after he latched onto another perfect through ball, getting to the ball before the Bridge keeper he lifted his effort over the keeper only to see the ball scrape the top of the crossbar. 2-0 in the end with a good solid performance from the Town men.
