Moher Celitc A 2

The B team got back to league action on Sunday against Moher Celtic A in Corrib Drive. Having played a tough Kilrush team last weekend in the Clare cup this was going to be another battle against the west Clare side, both teams looking to push up the league the away side started the stronger of the 2 knocking passes around they broke through the Town defense but just couldn't find the target with their efforts. With 25 minutes gone the home side finally made their way into the game when a long ball over the top found Eoghan Gough, he chased the ball down and flicked deft ball into the path of Adrian Carew he took a strike only to see him drag his effort past the far post. After 30 minutes the deadlock was broke when a counter attack by the west Clare men saw the winger swing a cross to the back post with the ball bouncing over the Town full back the Moher attacker headed past Gary Cusack to make it 1-0. The home side pushed for the equalizer for the next 10 minutes and were rewarded duly when a corner kick swung in by Eoghan Maxwell, Takudzwa Nyakujara (Noddy) picked up another goal 2 out of 2 games with a headed goal to make it 1-1 at half time.

The second half started with home side coming out as the stronger side winning nearly all of the 50/50 balls and tackles they began to take control of possession, the midfield duo of Eoin Collins and Karl Scott, they kept pushing balls over the top and through the lines to try get that all important 2nd goal. With 15 minutes gone in the 2nd half the Town management made a couple of substitutions to freshen up the attack and with that Ken Buckley linking up well with Adrian Carew he played an excellent through ball to Carew only to see him strike his effort too early and straight at the keeper. Robbie Waller also coming off the bench to inject that bit of energy he played an inch perfect though ball to Jamie Doyle, he shot from a tight angle and the effort rebounding into the path of the on rushing Ken Buckley he cushioned the ball over the line and into the net to make it 2-1 to the home side. With 3 minutes to go and a corner conceded the away side made it 2-2 when the full back of Moher Celtic headed home from close range to make it 2-2 in the end. The home side annoyed that they yet again conceded from a set piece in the final minutes of the game, but lots of positives to take from this performance against another A team in the division.

MOTM: Eoghan Gough

Next up sees the B team take on Tulla United A on Wednesday 06/04 at home in Corrib Drive, kick off at 6.30pm.
