The B team got back to action on Sunday for a Clare Cup first round tie with Kilrush Rangers in Corrib Drive. Having not played since the last week of January this was going to be a battle for the 2 teams, the game started a bit frantic with both teams failing to really string a good spell of play together. With 10 or 15 minutes on the clock the home side nearly opened the scoring when Adrian Carew took the ball off the Kilrush center half he squared to Robbie Waller rattling the crossbar and following up his own rebound he blasted just wide of the post. But on the 30 minute mark of the game Kilrush managed to score first hitting a strike from just outside the 18 yard box it scrambled past the Town keeper to make it 1-0. The Town annoyed with how they conceded first got themselves back into the game just on the stroke of half time when Takudzwa Nyakujara (Noddy) latched onto a free kick coming in at the back post he poked it past the on rushing Kilrush goal keeper, 1-1 at half time.
The 2nd half started with the Town pushing on after scoring and were rewarded duly when youth's player Jamie Doyle getting his first start for the B team he broke down the right wing beating the full back he cut inside onto his left foot he let loose with a strike from outside the 18 yard box into the corner past the Kilrush keeper , 2-1 to the Town. A Kilrush center half receiving a red card in the aftermath of the goal Kilrush down to 10 men. The home side not really benefiting from the extra man Kilrush had a good 10-15 minute spell of getting at the Town back four, with 20 minutes to go and corner headed onto the Town full backs arm he cleared an effort off the line, the ref deeming the hand ball deliberate he sent Chris Lake off and awarded the penalty to Kilrush. The Kilrush striker blasted past the post to the home side's relief. With the game drifting into the 85th minute and the heat at a tiring 18 degrees, the home side finally got the 3rd goal they were looking for when Adrian Carew chased a ball into the corner flag winning the ball back off the Kilrush center half he squared to the on rushing Luke Cahill he blasted past the keeper to make it 3-1. Kilrush pushed for the last 5 minutes but they could not break down the Town defense marshalled by veteran Fergal McCarthy and Alan ''Hammer'' McInerney.
