Ennis Dons 1

Shannon Town C 1

Tom Butler ⚽️

Shannon Town C made the trip to Lees Road to play Ennis Dons who on the day sat in second place in the table. Shannon Town not finding it easy in the past with Ennis Dons coming out on top nearly every time, but Shannon Town were in great form coming off the back of a great win last weekend against the League leaders. The game started well for the away side but it was Ennis Dons that started the stronger putting together some lovely passages of play in and around the Town midfield which was hurting the backline of Shannon Town, the weather and conditions starting to get very bad with the wind and rain howling and making kick outs from both keepers extremely hard to reach the halfway line. But 15-20 minutes gone Ennis Dons played a ball up to the striker and with the Shannon Town keeper coming off his line to claim the ball his, not making it in time the Ennis Dons striker clipped the ball over his head straight for goal, Shannon Town defender Jacob Hassen trying to slide in and clear it off the line but the ball skipping in the net to make it 1-0 to Ennis Dons. For the rest of first half it was all Ennis Dons possession but the half ending 1-0.

The Shannon Town Manager Darren Kilmartin made one change at half time bringing on Darren McNamara on the wing. The second half started much the same with all the ball with the Ennis Dons team, with 15mins into the second half Shannon Town manager made another change bringing on new signing Conor O 'Callaghan in to the center of midfield, Shannon Town at this point started to find themselves into the game with some great passing displays from the Town men, a ball played into the Ennis Dons box Emmet Morrison controlled and on the turn he hit his effort at goal eventually hitting an Ennis Dons defender in the hand. Penalty for Shannon Town, up stepped U19 player Tom Butler, sending the Ennis Dons keeper the wrong way he slotted it home to make it 1-1 and put Shannon Town back into the game. Both teams trying to push for the winner putting pressure on each others backlines but both Ennis Dons and Shannon Town back lines holding strong in the end and the game simmering out to a 1-1 draw in very very poor conditions in Ennis.
