The B team played last Sunday in what can be only described as horrendous conditions in Corrib Drive at 2pm Sunday afternoon with the wind and rain howling around the pitch the Town came flying out of the blocks and started to knock the ball around the pitch with a bit of authority putting together some excellent passages of play. With 15 minutes on the clock the home side nearly took the lead when winger Scott Lynch picked up a ball just inside the Hermitage half he drove at the full back and center half getting to the end line he squared a ball to the on rushing Adrian Carew, he connected with the cross only to see it fly past the upright. With the 2 Town wingers Scott Lynch and Eoghan Gough getting lots of joy the Town team pressed for the opener and did so when Scott Lynch once again drove past his man and with the Hermitage keeper coming off his line to close the angle Scott fired past him into the side of the net to make it 1-0. 5 minutes later with the Town winning a corner, the ball whipped into the box by Jamie O Shea it was headed clear only to see Karl Scott connect with a stunning volley into the roof of the net. 2-0 and the Town really piling the pressure on they made it 3-0 when Jamie O Shea followed up an Eoghan Gough strike to blast past the keeper. With the game coming near the half time mark the Town made it 4-0 when Jamie O Shea played a through ball past the last defender to Adrian Carew he ran through on goal rounding the on rushing keeper and slotting it home.

The 2nd half started with Hermitage getting a bit of joy with the wind and rain in their favor they tried to break through the resilient Town backline marshalled by Fergal McCarthy but found it difficult. But with 55 minutes on the clock Hermitage did pull one back when the Hermitage winger let loose with a strike outside the box, the Town Keeper Gary Cusack pushing the effort onto the crossbar, the Hermitage player reacting the quickest he tapped it in to make it 4-1. The home side took control again for the next 15 minutes and could have and should have wrapped the game up but with some poor finishing and decision making missing numerous chances to score the 5th goal. With 5-10 minutes to go and the weather really deteriorating the Town gave away a penalty just inside the edge of the box, the Hermitage player blasted past Gary Cusack to make it 4-2. The last 5 minutes saw the Town hold strong and not concede any more sloppy goals. 4 points for the first 2 games back is the main positive and move up the league table more importantly.

MOTM: Karl Scott
