Corofin Harps 2
Shannon Town 3
Aiden o Donnell ⚽️
Cian Austin ⚽️
Luke Keating ⚽️
Saturday morning saw Shannon Town under 17s start their league campaign with a hard fought away win to a gallant Corofin side. Played in heavy conditions the Town started brightly and created some good chances through Aiden o Donnell only to be denied by the Corofin keeper. After dominating the play in the first 15 minutes the Town to their shock were first to concede 1-0 down. But straight after the restart the Town were awarded a free kick and a great ball into the box failed to be cleared, Aiden O Donnell punished the home side with a tidy finish from 8 yards out 1-1. The town pushed for their 2nd goal but were denied by some great defensive play and some good saves from the Corofin keeper again and again.
The second half started with the Town lads on the front foot and were rewarded for the efforts with some good play between Luke Fitzpatrick and Luke Keating allowed Cian Austin to receive the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box, with a drop of the shoulder and some excellent skill Cian fired home from 15 yards out into the top corner giving the keeper absolutely no chance. Again to their horror the boys conceded an equalizer after some poor play 2-2. To their credit the boys never gave up and were awarded a penalty after Aiden o Donnell was fouled in the box. Up stepped Luke Keating to fire home the 3rd goal. The boys had opportunities to add a fourth but again were denied by the Corofin keeper. As expected the Corofin side pushed for an equalizer but were denied by the Town defense and goalkeeper to end the game 3-2 to the away side.
All in all the Management will be very happy with the result, display and effort shown by the lads.
