Coole FC 3
Shannon Town B 1
Ken Buckley ⚽
The B team travelled to St Colemans Park in Gort Sunday morning for an 11am kick off, their 1st league game in 2 months!! This game started in the away teams favor which saw the Town knock the ball around and dictate play to a strong Coole team who were looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Tulla, the opening 20 minutes saw the Town create a few half chances but nothing clear cut to open the scoring. With just over 35 minutes gone and looking like Coole were gaining a bit a possession the Town took the lead when Ken Buckley chased down a ball into the corner, he won the challenge with the center half and with him seeing the Coole keeper off his line he clipped a delighted ball over the keepers head, hitting the crossbar and into the net to make it 1-0. With 44 minutes on the clock and looking like the Town were going to go in at the break 1-0 up a corner kick was whipped in by the Coole player only to see the Town keeper drop the ball inside the 6 yard box and see a Coole player bundle the ball over the line to make it 1-1 at the break.
The 2nd half started with both teams counter attacking at every chance they got but both teams couldn't put together that final pass in the final third to create a goal to take the lead. With 55 minutes gone Coole did take the lead whipping in a corner kick again to the front post, the Town players and keeper failing to clear their lines saw a Coole attacker fly in at the back post and blast home from 5 yards to make it 2-1. The Town pushing for the equalizer making 4 substitutions after 65 minutes they started to put together some lovely passes only again failing to create enough in the final third to score that all important goal. Committing more bodies forward ended up with Coole winning a free kick 35 yards out from the Town goal, the free kick was fired at the Town keeper with the ball skipping off the greasy surface it rebounded off his chest and saw the ball fall into the path of an on rushing Coole attacker who fired home from close range again. A very disappointing 3-1 loss away for the B team see them in now 5th place 8 points behind the league leaders after 6 games.
No game for the B team again sees them have next weekend off!!
