Sunday morning saw our A team travel away for a short trip to take on Bridge Utd in MJC. The town started brightly and after only 30 seconds could have taken the lead when a good through ball by Brian o Connor released Kieran Hackett but saw his shot go narrowly wide. The town continued to press for the opening goal but were denied by some good defending by the Bridge defense and the Bridge keeper making some good saves to keep it at 0-0. The town did eventually take a deserved lead when who else but that man again ''Gary o Connell'' fired home to make it 1-0 after 30 minutes. Ten minutes later we doubled our lead when a pin point Brian Monaghan free kick was powerfully headed home by goal scoring machine at the moment ''Gary o Connell''. 2-0 at halftime and the Town were without doubt good value for their lead.

As expected the Bridge came out fighting in the second half but some great defensive play by the Town back four and some excellent handling from the Town keeper Shane Russell kept the score at 2 -0. The town pushed for their third goal knowing that it would kill the game off and close out the win. And with that on 70 minutes a glorious chance fell to Brian o Conner but saw him drag his effort wide of the Bridge goal. The Town did eventually get their 3rd goal on 80 minutes when Kieran Hackett's blasted shot was saved by the Bridge keeper but the rebound was fired home into the top corner by Brian Monaghan. Into injury time and in the 95th minute the Bridge were awarded a penalty to make it 3-1 in the end. Overall it was a great performance by the A team and one that the manager will be delighted with.
