Shannon Town A continued with their impressive start to the season last Sunday with another convincing win against a very hard working Mounthshannon side. The Town started the brighter of the two sides and were rewarded for their quick start taking a early lead from a Brian Monaghan corner that was headed home by who else only in form midfielder Gary O Connell. The town pilled on the pressure again and were rewarded after 20 minutes with another headed goal by midfielder Jack Kelly from a pint point Brian Monaghan delivery. 10 mins later Mountshannon reduced the lead when some sloppy play by the Town allowed the Mountshannon number 9 to fire home from 10 yards out. Try as they might the Town couldn’t add to their lead so it finished 2-1 at the break.

The 2nd half start with the home side pushing hard for an equalizer but the Town defense held firm. On 60 minutes a great run by Brian Monaghan down the left wing, he whipped another delightful delivery in the box for Gary o Connell to tap home from 6 yards out and bag another brace for himself!! 5 minutes later it was 4 -1 with another good run by Monaghan but this time he cut inside himself and finished into the bottom corner for a well deserved goal of his own. On 75 minutes the Town finished it off in style when Brian O Connor finished off another good move to make it 5-1 in the end.

The A team will be happy with their performance and another 3 points moves them up the table.
