Shannon Town bounced back from their FAI cup defeat last weekend with a comfortable win over a battling Inch team in the MJC. It was also a day that the team had six under 19’s players on the pitch at once stage giving debuts to Eoghan Casey, Aaron Kelly and Kevin Kelly playing with teammates Ben o Neill, Charlie Morrison and Cody Waller. Shannon Town started brightly and scored after 3 minutes from a good strike into the bottom right hand corner from TJ O Dwyer. Fifteen minutes later they doubled their lead with a goal from Jack Kelly who headed home from a corner kick. On 33 minutes in form midfielder Gary O Connell added a third goal after some fine team work and passing through the Inch backline allowed him to tap home from six yards out. On 42 mins Charlie Morrison got his first goal of the game when finishing well against an advancing Inch goalkeeper. 4-0 at the break.

The 2nd half was a much tamely affair with the home side controlling all the possession only to be denied on numerous occasions by the Inch goalkeeper. On 61 minutes Charlie Morrison did add his second of the day with another fine finish into the bottom left hand corner from 10 yards out. All in all it was a good team performance with the highlight of the day having six under 19’s on the pitch at one stage in the game. The A team management delighted to blood in the youth early and give them a real taste of Junior football.
