Shannon town held Avenue for 18 minutes. Shannon started well, holding their own but a cross from the right wing was finished on the half volly that went in off the post. Shannon battled again but the Premier side seemed to be able to over load the back post from every delivery and scored 2 back post headers before half time. Shannon managed some very good passages of play ensuring Avenue knew they were in a game.

The 2nd half was the same as the first with Avenue keeping most of the possession, but Shannon continuing to make it difficult for them. With some excellent defending and some good saves from the Shannon keeper. Avenue managed to get 2 more 2nd half goals to make it 5 - 0 by full time. Shannon refused to role over and gave it their all. They put it up to the Premier side for most of the game making sure they had nothing easy.
