Shannon Town United AFC were delighted to receive a visit from Minister for Sport Jack Chambers as he was eager to see the progress of our new clubhouse as it nears completion. The clubhouse which boasts 2 home and 2 away dressing rooms, a referee’s room, all with toilets and showers on the ground floor and 2 large meeting rooms upstairs will cost in the region of €300,000.
In addition to the €44,000 raised so far through fundraising, a sports capital grant of €54,200 was received. Minister Chambers was very impressed with the facility and said he would look forward to seeing it again when we are ready to open.
It goes without saying that additional fundraising is needed and with Shannon Town Utd AFC launching its buy a brick fundraiser, the Minister was sure to be one of the first to get his very own brick, a show of support that is very much appreciated.
