Shannon Town 5
Kieran Hackett ⚽⚽
Robbie Wall ⚽
Gary O Connell ⚽
Ben O Neill ⚽
Ennis Town 0
Shannon Town started the game knowing that after last weeks loss only a win was needed to get their league campaign back on track. The town start the brightest and were rewarded for the effects after 6 minutes when a great pass from Ben o Neill allowed Kieran Hackett to finish well. The town pushed for a second but were denied by some fine saves from the Ennis Town keeper. After 25 mins Ennis Town had a glorious chance to equalize but the Ennis player was unable to finish. The goal of the game came against the run of play but for sure this was the goal of the game. A long ball up the field was headed away by the Ennis Town defender only for Rob Wall to connect with an unstoppable volley from 30 yards out into the top right hand corner. 2 nil at the break but a score line that was probably not a true reflection on the game.
The second half started with the town pushing for their third goal and to kill the game off. Another great pass by Ben o Neill again played Kieran Hackett through with a one on one and Kieran finished with a delightful lob over the advancing keeper. Shannon Town made it 4 nil when Gary O Connell finished off another one on one after 80 minutes. After 85 minutes Ben o Neill made it 5 nil to the home side when he rounded the Ennis Town full back and fired home from a tight angle giving the keeper no chance.
The A team will be happy with the result which sets them up for their first game in the FAI Junior Cup next Sunday 26th at 2pm In Lynch Park against Rathkeale FC.
