Shannon Town B made the trip to Kilrush Sunday afternoon still looking for their first 3 points in the league, Shannon Town failed to start this game with the same tempo as they had shown in the opening 2 games with some sloppy passing and giving the ball away far too easily ended up putting the defense under pressure in the first 10 minutes, but the away side eventually settled down and started to knock some good passes around finding the spaces in-between the Kilrush back line with through balls to the 2 Town wingers. With 25 minutes gone the away side nearly made it 1-0 when a through ball from Jamie o Shea saw Adrian Carew taken down by the Kilrush keeper only for the referee to wave away the penalty claim. Shannon continued to push for the opening goal and on the stroke of half time saw Eoin Maxwell whip an excellent free kick into the box and with 2 Shannon Town players failing to connect with the cross ended up with Fergal McCarthy coming in at the back post to fire home from close range to make it 1-0 at half time.

Shannon Town started the 2nd half strong again with some good passages of play but could not break down a gallant Kilrush defense. With 50 minutes gone Kilrush won a free kick of their own on the edge of the box who in turn forced a good save from the Shannon keeper Kyle O Callaghan only to see the on rushing Kilrush attacker following up the free kick and get taken down in the box to see the referee award a penalty, the Kilrush striker made no mistake and made it 1-1. The away side now making changes with some fresh legs and a change to the shape saw them put Kilrush under pressure once again and could have made it 2-1 when a corner kick found its way to Alan McInerney just outside the 6 yard box who controlled and passed to a free Conor Slattery only to see his blasted shot clip the outside of the post. Slattery nearly scored again in the 80th minute when he found himself free at the back post from yet another corner kick only to head past the post. With the game drifting into the 86th minute it looked like it was going to be another draw for the Town but Jamie O Shea picked up a loose ball just on the halfway line and played an inch perfect through ball to an on rushing Luke Cahill to see him blast home from the edge of the box and snatch that all important first 3 points in the League.

The away side delighted to pick up their first 3 points and move onto Hermitage away next Sunday at 2pm.
