Shannon Town A recorded their second league win with a 4-1 win over local rivals Shannon Hibs. The game started off at a frantic pace with the home side looking to get an early goal but were denied by some good defensive play to keep the Town at bay. Shannon Town eventually took the lead when a good shot by Ben O Neill was saved only for Gary O Connell to fire home the rebound and put the home side 1 up at halftime.
The 2nd half started with the home side looking for their 2nd but were rocked when the Hibs center forward fired home from a corner to make the score 1-1. This seemed to spur the home side into action and were rewarded with a penalty which was calmly slotted home by Colin Scanlon to make it 2-1. Shannon added a 3rd when TJ O Dwyer fired home a shot into the bottom left corner from 20 yards out to give the keeper no chance. Shannon Town scored their 4th and the goal of the game when Brian Monaghan picked up the ball 20 yards inside his own half, beating 3 players to curl a beautiful right foot shot from 30 yards out into the top right corner. Shannon Town were unlucky not to score their 5th when a mazy run by substitute Charlie Morrison was brilliantly saved by the Hibs keeper.
The A team will be happy with the win as they move onto next weeks game away to Avenue Utd.
