Shannon Town B 2
Moher Celtic A 2
The B team made the trip to Lahinch for the 11am Sunday morning kick off looking for their first 3 points in the League. The same as last week Shannon started the stronger side pressing the Moher back line at every chance they got forcing them into turning over possession to the on coming Shannon attacks, with 15 minutes gone and having won a corner Shannon Town's Ryan Hodge whipped in an excellent corner kick to the on rushing Eoin Collins who connected with a blasted volley into the back of the net to put Town 1 up. Shannon's attack continued to press the Moher back line and could have made it 2-0 when Adrian Carew cut out a pass on the corner of the box from the Moher center half only to drag his effort wide of the far post. After the first half water break Moher earned a corner of their own which saw the Moher Striker rise above the Shannon Town defender and glance a header past Town's keeper Kyle O Callaghan. Shannon Town fought back again and with what could only be called a moment of individual brilliance Eoin Collins controlled a pass just on the edge of the Moher box and with flicking the ball over his and the defenders heads swiveled and connected with a left footed volley into the bottom corner to put Town ahead once again, 2-1 at half time.
The 2nd half started with Moher pressing for the equalizer but Shannon Town's defense along with the hard working midfielders held Moher at bay, with 70 minutes gone Shannon Town nearly made it 3-1 when Eoin Maxwell broke free down the right wing, swinging in a great cross into the box only for Adrian Carew to slide in connecting with the cross but seeing it drift past the far past once again. With the game reaching the 85th minute 2-1 to the Town it looked like they were going to hold strong and take the win home, but disaster stuck when Shannon Town's full back Aaron O Mara saw his last ditch tackle end in a penalty being awarded to the Moher attacker, who made no mistake and slotted the spot kick past Kyle O Callaghan. With time running out Shannon Town tried to get the winner with 1 or 2 more long range shots but nothing to test the Moher keeper. Shannon Town left Lahinch truly disappointed knowing that if they cut out the errors at vital stages in games that the wins will come.
