Shannon Town C 1
Bunratty Cratloe 1
What a fantastic afternoon of football played at a frantic pace showing some of the great talent in Clare's 3rd Division.
The game kicked off and within 1 minute Blane O' Sullivan ran through the heart of the Bunratty team and slid Dion Khetan through only for the Bunratty keeper to make an excellent one on one save from point blank range. After this Bunratty took hold for the next 15 minutes and had Shannon on the back foot. This being said they failed to create any clear cut chances. Shannon slowly grew into the game with good chances falling to Dion Khetan and Niall George calling on the Bunratty keeper to make good saves as well as Jason McIntyre hitting the outside of the post and putting a long rang effort just wide of the Bunratty post. The Deadlock was broken on 30 minutes when a throw was flicked on by Tom Butler putting Dion Khetan through. All he had to do was slot it past the keeper but picked the most difficult option dinking a beautiful chip over Darragh Danaher in the Bunratty Cratloe goal to put the Shannon side into the lead. Shannon continued to dominate the half until 44 minutes when a shot caught Adam Cahill on the top of the shoulder and the referee pointed to the spot. Shannon really disappointed with the decision. Jimmy Houlihan stepped up and drew the visitors level.
1-1 Half Time.
Bunratty started the second half strong and had Shannon on the back foot. The pick of the chances was a deflected free kick which brought a great save from the Shannon Town Keeper Adam Kimber. Shannon came back again and the last 20 minutes where quite even, end to end with Shannon possibly edging the play. The match finished as it stared with a great tempo. It was a great watch with fantastic football being played. The Shannon side left disappointed with the result after creating more of the clear cut chances.
