Shannon Town played Avenue Utd at Corrib Drive on Tuesday with a late evening kick off.
Avenue Utd started brightly and created a couple of half chances with some crisp passing in the opening minutes.
Shannon Town finally began to win possession and create some chances of their own with Aiden O’Donnell hitting the crossbar.
Avenue Utd took the lead 15 minutes in after a quick counter attack and a powerful shot from inside the box.
Shannon Town stepped up a gear and began to find some space and pass the ball better, they had a couple of long range efforts which didn’t trouble the Avenue goalkeeper,their efforts were finally rewarded when Cian Austin ⚽️equalised, firing home from close range after some lovely footwork, leaving the sides level at the break.
Avenue took the lead early in the second half when they were awarded a penalty after the Shannon Town goalkeeper was adjudged to have fouled the attacker.
Shannon Town continued to battle and created numerous goal scoring opportunities with Colin Riordan and Aiden O’Donnell going close on two occasions.
Avenue extended their lead with 15 minutes left on the clock after a miss kick in the Shannon Town defence which allowed the attacker to score the winner.
Super effort from the whole squad who never gave up and kept going until the final whistle.
