Sunday 22nd Aug Shannon Town C made the trip to Liscannor to play Moher Celtic B for a 2pm kick off in the league opener, within 5 minutes into the game Shannon Town made the best possible start as Kevin O Connor made a great run into the box only to be taken down by a Moher player with the ref awarding a penalty, Kevin stepped up himself to slot the spot kick home and make it 1-0. Shannon Town kept the pressure on the Moher back line but Moher held strong and managed to get the equalizer in the 25th minute with a mistake from the Shannon back line to make it 1-1 at half time.
In the second half Shannon Town kept the pressure on and had multiple chances to put the game to bed but just couldn't convert into goals, the Moher back line held strong until 5 minutes to go when Jason McIntyre broke down the wing to swing a perfect cross into the box for Aidean O Donnell to head home to make it 2-1 to Shannon Town. But before the final whistle could arrive Shannon broke forward once again and with another great cross into box, Niall George scored his goal of the game to make it 3-1 and secure all 3 points for Shannon Town.
All in all a great start for the Town, next up in the League for Shannon Town C is Bunratty/Cratloe Sunday 29th in Corrib Drive for another 2pm Kick off.
