Shannon Town continued their good form with a 2 nil away win to a strong Avenue Utd team. Both teams started brightly creating some good chance in the first 15 minutes. After 25 minutes We took the lead from a superb strike from Colin Riordan⚽️from all of 25 yards out that gave the keeper no chance. Both teams continued to play some delightful play in the first half but no more goals were to come.
The 2nd half started with Avenue pilling on the pressure but the boys held firm to keep the score at 1 nil. Avenue were awarded a penalty after 60 mins only to be denied by a brilliant save from Liam Cooke💪. Avenue continued to look for an equalizer but the boys dig deep to keep them at bay and try hit them on the break. On 87 minutes that opportunity arrived when good defensive play allowed Colin Riordan to pick up the ball just inside he’s own half and release Aiden O Donnell⚽️ who expertly finished side footing pas the Avenue keeper.
Overall it was another great team performance and now see the lads on 4pts after 2 games
